Pool Facilities & Swimming Overview

General Preparation/Information:

 

 

  • Pools are allowed to open June 10th to allow for training lifeguards only, prior to the June 17th full reopening.

 

  • Establish a COVID-10 liaison that is responsible for staying up to date on municipal and state recommendations and any associated changes.

 

  • Capacity Limits
    • 50% of pool capacity or 25 people (whichever is smaller) per pool.
    • Limit number of patrons in the pool area and pool to the number of people/households that can safely fit on the pool deck area while maintaining the 6 ft social distance guideline

 

  • Cleaning/Disinfection of frequently touched surfaces at least daily and more frequently depending on usage (including handrails, slides, diving boards, chairs, kick boards, table tops, chairs, starting blocks, etc.)

 

  • Post clear signage that reinforces new policies including:
    • Social distancing protocols
    • Cleaning & disinfection protocols
    • Face mask/covering protocols
    • Employee should stay home if sick/experiencing symptoms
    • Patrons/Members shall not enter if they are experiencing symptoms

 

  • Face coverings should be worn when entering and exiting the facility, using the restroom, and when not actively participating in physical activity.

 

  • Maintain a log of employees on premise over time in order to support contact tracing

Swim Teams

 

  • Staff member must conduct a daily symptom checks on athletes and send home those athletes who reporting feeling ill or experiencing symptoms. Consider using a health screening tool with temperature check.
  • Athletes should change clothes and shower at home.
  • Hand Hygiene – use hand sanitizer or wash hands before going into pool.
  • Keep athletes in small groups and consider staggering practice times to allow for physical distancing. Other suggestions include limit number of swimmers per lane, visible start/stop points on pool deck or in lanes, coaches on both ends of pool)
  • Avoid sharing equipment.
  • Athletes should bring water bottles from home.

 

Swimming Etiquette

  • Patrons should arrive in swimsuits and shower prior to arrival.
  • Follow directions for spacing and stay at least six feet apart from others.
  • Do not share towels, food, drink, goggles, caps, snorkels, or other personal items.
  • Avoid congregating on the pool deck after swimming
  • Swim lessons that require physical contact between instructor and student will not be allowed in Phase 2. Lessons that do not require physical contact are allowed.
