PHASE II OPENING TODAY
Westport Weston Health District’s Director of Health, Mark Cooper, is pleased that local COVID-19 transmission rates continue to be low. Metrics have improved across the state as well, allowing the phased in reopening of Connecticut to proceed. In fact, Connecticut is among the states with the lowest rates of transmission. The WWHD will continue to monitor local and state metrics and update the community as appropriate.
Mr. Cooper credits much of the success in mitigating the spread of the virus to the precautions residents have taken over the past few months. However, we must continue to be vigilant. Following safety protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance, and good hygiene practices are all critical despite the downward trend in the number of new COVID cases. He urges residents to use common sense and to take advantage of testing, especially if experiencing symptoms. Testing is available, so if you feel you need one, please get tested. St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center on Long Lots Road in Westport is one local option with open time-slots. Simply call 860.972.8100 to book an appointment.

As businesses and services across the region continue to reopen, personal responsibility is key. We should all continue to employ safety measures.
