Reporting on the State of Connecticut’s Summary of COVID-19 cases, deaths, and tests.

The State of Connecticut’s COVID-19 metric report is now issued five times per week, every Monday through Friday. The report that is issued each Monday contains combined data that was collected on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

The Health District’s efforts are focusing on  the response to last week’s storm and the town’s recovery efforts.

A complete listing of all COVID-19 cases and  analyses by age, hospitalizations, deaths, towns and county is reported by the Connecticut State Department of Health. This information can be found by following the link below:

New Rule Updates for Restaurants and Travelers

Restaurant Rules

Rules for operating restaurants and food establishments during COVID were updated late last week by the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.  Please remember that patrons must bring and wear a mask or cloth face covering. Establishments have the right to refuse service to those customers who do not follow the rules.  All restaurant staff members are required to wear a mask or cloth face covering as well, unless they have a medical note. The revised guidelines also state that self-serve beverage stations are now allowed, provided that the following protocols are in place:

  • Hand sanitizer must be made available next to beverage stations and operators must require customers to use the sanitizer before pouring beverages.
  • Only cello or paper wrapped straws and stirrers are allowed. Cups and lids must be from a single pull dispenser or other method to minimize contact. Sweeteners, sugars and creamers must be individual packets.
  • Floor markers must be installed to achieve social distancing. Samplings and refills of personal mugs and cups are not allowed.
  • Frequent disinfecting of the beverage station must take place, even during busy time

All other self-serve items and buffets must remain closed at this time.

Travelers – Know Before You Go

The WWHD is reminding residents about Connecticut’s travel advisory and quarantine requirements.  With school start dates on the horizon, families should plan accordingly if planning to vacation.  Those traveling to the states with high COVID infection rates are expected to follow the 14-day self-quarantine rule upon their return home.  Students who visit one of the states on the travel advisory list and stay for more than 24 hours may not attend classes or participate in sports or other activities in person during the two-week quarantine period.
